Position: Seniors Exercise & Wellness Program Coordinator (Part-time)

Project: Keep Well Antigonish Exercise and Wellness Program – GROW Social Participation

 

About Keep Well Antigonish

The Keep Well Antigonish Society, a local non-profit, oversees an exercise and wellness program for seniors in Antigonish Town and County. The Keep Well Antigonish (KWA) program offers three sessions per year featuring in-person and online exercise classes and wellness programming that help older adults stay active, connected and well. KWA provides a welcoming, accessible, inclusive, and supportive space for seniors in our community.

Seniors Exercise & Wellness Program Coordinator Role

KWA is seeking a Coordinator who, working closely with and reporting to the Project Manager, will play a hands-on role in delivering weekly in-person and online programming and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate brings strong communication and organizational skills to support participants, manage administrative and communication activities, and contribute to the program’s ongoing growth.

Key Responsibilities

Program Delivery & Participant Support

  • Host in-person and online exercise classes, including basic tech support and on-site coordination.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for participants, instructors, and volunteers.

Program Coordination & Administration

  • Manage online registration and coordinate participant enrolment.
  • Maintain program communications, including email monitoring, website and social media updates.
  • Liaise with different stakeholders (venue staff, instructors, participants) and facilitate communications among them.
  • Collect and organize participant feedback to support program evaluation.
  • Work with the Project Manager to plan class schedules and organize, coordinate, and oversee volunteers.
  • Contribute to capacity building projects such as database implementation, website improvements, social media setup, and the development of program manuals and resources.

Communications & Community Engagement

  • Promote KWA program activities and identify and share relevant community programs, events, and wellness resources with participants.
  • Support the planning and promotion of wellness presentations and events.

Collaboration & Planning

  • Work closely with the Project Manager and provide regular updates to the KWA Board.
  • Participate in program planning and help identify opportunities, address challenges, and support program growth.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to broaden awareness of KWA’s programs and strengthen connections with local organizations and community groups.

Skills & Qualifications

Organizational & Coordination Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and program components with attention to detail.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Warm, respectful, and engaged when working with older adults.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to facilitate communications among different stakeholders and problem solve on the spot

Digital & Technical Skills

  • Comfort and competence with common digital tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, online forms), online design tools (e.g. Canva), and the ability to engage target audience using website and social media platforms.
  • Ability to support participants with common tech issues in online classes and set up basic equipment (e.g., microphones, speakers, cameras) for in-person programming.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, and set up tables, chairs, and light equipment for in-person classes.
  • Experience working with older adults or in community programs is an asset.

Details

  • Part-time position (20 hours/week @ $23/hour).
  • Initial contract: Sept – Dec 2026, 15 weeks; January – June 2027, 26 weeks. (Total=41 weeks). Possibility of extension beyond initial contract.
  • Location: Antigonish, NS
  • Flexible work environment that includes some fixed weekly program times and flexible remote work.
